ARTIST BIO: "CASTRO" ANTHONY CASTRO
Anthony Manal Castro, a Filipino American artist based in Brooklyn, NY, has a background in painting, with degrees from San Jose State University and Claremont Graduate University. His art journey took him from Los Angeles to Prague, and finally, the East Village in New York City in 1993.
Inspired by the urban environment, Castro explores a personal writing system through his art, creating intricate patterns and abstractions that transcend time.
His 'Sliced to Order' collage series, originating during his early days in Brooklyn, was inspired by typography found in local KeyFood supermarket posters. These posters became a unique visual language that bridges past, present, and future.
